COURSE DESCRIPTION:

                Introduces terminology, concepts and methods of using computers in Information Systems and instructs in computer literacy and proficiency in Office 2003.  This is a lecture class consisting of 3 hours per week and constitutes 3 credit hours.

            Microsoft Office 2003 Introductory Concepts and Techniques

Shelly, Cashman and Vernaat

 

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

Four 3 ½ “ high-density disks or a jump (flash) drive

 

ATTENDANCE EXPECTATIONS:

            Students are expected to be present for all class meetings, and to review text material and assignments prior to each lecture session.  In case of absence, the student is expected to be responsible for completion of all assignments as outlined in this syllabus.  Computers are also available in the open lab, which can be used for the completion of assignments.  Check the schedule outside the lab door for lab availability.

 

 

GRADING POLICY FOR COURSEWORK:

Projects assigned in class are expected to be completed by the deadline specified by the instructor.  Projects will be accepted late, but will be penalized 5 points for each class date that has passed since the due date of the project.  Late work will not be accepted more than two class dates after the initial due date. Discussion of in-class laboratory exercises is encouraged, however, projects that are to be turned in for grade must not involve any collaborative effort on the part of students, unless the instructor explicitly states otherwise.

 

GRADING:

The student’s final grade will consist of the following 3 components:

Grading Scale:

            A          90 - 100

            B          80 - 89

            C          70 - 79

            D          60 - 69
